New Strategy For Getting the Government We Want

Well I am back sorry for the long absence.  I hope all of you will join in the new effort to get what we want out of our government.  Tweeting, blogging, and complaining about Obama not doing it all the way we want has gotten us very little except for a major defeat in the midterms.  Our efforts have been gallant, but mis directed.  We need to take the attack plan of our adversaries and make it our own.  An important pillar is the energy, time and effort they exert calling, faxing, and directly writing their Senators and Representatives in the House.
We need to employ this tactic starting with calling, directly writing and faxing all of the Democratic Senators who have said they are for or are willing to consider voting to extend the debt funded Bush tax cuts for the richest 2% of taxpayers.  I firmly believe our country can not pay for more debt funded tax breaks for the rich.  Especially considering the numerous economic articles currently circulating that show the rich have already come out of the recession.  The idea that tax cuts for the rich will spawn job growth was totally debunked during this recession because during the lead-up years the rich got the largest tax cut in a generation and the economy and job growth was the smallest it has been in 70 years.  The so called Death Tax should be reinstated also!
So here is the list of Democratic Senators you need to lobby like crazy until the vote on extending tax cuts happens:

Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear in Washington D.C. 2010

Hello everyone, I am sorry for the long absence, but have been caught-up in the tornado of life lately!  Here are the photos I took at the Rally to Restore Sanity in Washington D.C..  My BFF and I had a great time!  She is in some of the photos with me.  It was a great day spent with great people who love our country more than partisan politics or ideology.  There were a lot of people from all age groups, but I was especially pleased to see how many young people attended considering the "mainstream media" insists they are uninterested and disaffected in the run-up to the 2010 Mid-term Election.  Enjoy the photographs and share the link far and wide.

Stop Billionaires from Buying Our Elections

This mid-term election season has seen an enormous rise of 30% in campaign expenditures.  A large amount of that money has been donated in secret.  In July 2010, in Citizens United V Federal Election Commission the Supreme Court ruled corporations were people and could not be limited in their contributions to political candidates or in independently advertising for or against an individual candidate.  The court did not require disclosure of the source of the contributions.

The result has been a large increase in money spent on advertising from "mystery" sources many of these donations have been very large all the way up to 1 million dollars at a time.  The Republicans have been the main beneficiary of the flood of new "dark money" which has enabled their candidates to out spend Democrats 10 to 1 sometimes more.  Congressional races that typically have a total of 1 million dollars spent total are seeing that rise to 2 or 3 million dollars all on the Republican side.  This Supreme Court ruling is allowing the very billionaires and large corporations that have ran our country into the ditch the ability to buy our elections.  They spend millions of dollars every year lobbying and now millions on elections, they are not spending billions for no reason and they do not have the prosperity of the United States and American citizens as their goal.  They are only out to expand their bank accounts and corporate balance sheets.

All Americans that want their government to act on their behalf to ensure our security, global competitiveness, environmental concerns and education crisis must begin to speak out about stopping the influence that is being wielded against our interests.  Contact your Congressman and demand legislation to inject transparency through campaign finance disclosure laws, legislation to remove the enormous sums of money from our election system and a Constitutional Amendment that makes it clear that only human beings NOT corporations are considered to be persons in the United States of America!

Click here to find your Congressman, write and call them untill they meet our demands!  American Citizens vote NOT corporations!

Obama V Republicans on Tax Cuts The Reality (Video)

This is a great video because it explains in plain and simple terms why extending the Bush tax cuts for the richest 2% of Americans is to expensive.  Austin Goolsbee dose a great  job of explaining why it is not a good idea and correctly points out that there is consensus among the best economists in the country that the US can not afford to continue giving rich people a $100,000 tax cut.  The video is less than 2 minutes long.  Please use it in your discussions with friends and family, tweet or Facebook it to those who argue for continuing the tax cuts for the super rich among us.  We must begin paying for the 2 unfunded wars and the debt (the cuts have been funded by the US government selling debt) from the last 6 years of the Bush cuts for the rich.

Pictures of the One Nation Working Together Rally

Here is a collection of some of the best photographs I have come across of the One Nation Working Together Rally on Oct 2, 2010.  Hope you enjoy them and take the spirit of today with you every day from now until the election as you rally to stop the radical Republican agenda to end Social Security and Medicare for everyone under 55 years old in 2011.  Talk to your friends, co-workers and family, let them know how important this election is to keep pushing forward into the next century and not to turn back to the ways of the last one.

I gathered the photos from Yahoo News, Blue Virgina and the
